There’s something extra special about photographing a wedding when the couple already holds such a meaningful place in your heart. Capturing Lindsey and Matthew’s wedding was exactly that for me. Lindsey is my former Disney College Program roommate, so being invited to document such an important day in her life was truly an honor. Flying out to Arizona to photograph their small, intimate backyard wedding at Lindsey’s childhood home made it all even more meaningful. From the moment I arrived, you could feel how deeply loved these two are. Every guest present clearly adored Lindsey and Matthew, and the entire day felt so full of warmth, joy, and genuine connection.

As a Kentucky photographer, escaping winter in December to Arizona sunshine was a pretty great bonus. One of my favorite things about traveling for weddings is how different every location feels, especially when it comes to the plants and landscapes. Arizona’s scenery gave me the chance to play with new textures, colors, and backdrops, which always sparks my creativity and reminds me why I love photographing in new places.

As the sun set, the backyard transformed into something straight out of a fairytale. Fairy lights twinkled overhead, candles glowed throughout the space, and the entire evening felt magical. Lindsey and Matthew’s reception is one I’ll never forget. Watching their guests dance the night away in the backyard, surrounded by soft lights and so much love, was incredibly special. It was a beautiful celebration, and I’m so grateful I got to be there to capture it all.
